Statement of the Irish Confraternity of Catholic Clergy on the Abortion Referendum on 25th May 2018

The Irish Confraternity of Catholic Clergy, convinced of the right to life of every human being from conception to natural death, reflecting on the statements of medical and legal experts and the call of the Irish Bishops and also taking into account studies of the devastating personal, family and social consequences of abortion in the United Kingdom, the United States of America and other countries, strongly encourages people to vote No in the Referendum on 25th May 2018. The Confraternity is convinced that the present Eighth Amendment should be retained because it provides adequate safeguards for the right to life of both the mother and child.
